LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 30, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Showrunner Felicia D. Henderson along with the cast, writers, producers, and directors of SOUL FOOD (the television series) announced the Official 20th Anniversary of Soul Food’s Television Premiere Zoom Event, Open to Fans. Organizers plan to use this platform as a fundraiser for Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon Martin's mom and the mother of the "Black Lives Matter" movement. The zoom event is TODAY, Tuesday, June 30, 2020, 4:00pm PST – 7:00pm EST.

Felicia D. Henderson, Soul Food Showrunner and event organizer said, "First and foremost, I am a writer, and artists must be activists now more than ever. This year we're celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the premiere of SOUL FOOD (the TV series). Myself, along with executive producers: Tracey Edmonds, Bob Teitel, and George Tillman; writer-producers: Salim Akil (who also directed the show), Kenya Barris, Eric Haywood, and Charles Holland; directors: Jeff Byrd and Oz Scott; and the cast: Rockmond Dunbar, Darrin Dewitt Henson, Boris Kodjoe, Nicole Ari Parker, Malinda Williams, and Vanessa Williams, are looking forward to celebrating this anniversary with a Zoom fundraising reception for Sybrina.

Before COVID-19, before more murders of Black people, we planned a large party, retrospectives, etc., etc. But now, we have the opportunity to use this anniversary to be "Artivists" and I believe in nobody like I believe in Sybrina's ability to be an agent of change," says Felicia. Fans can join the Official 20th Anniversary Soul Food Zoom Event and hear Sybrina share the many reasons she is running for Miami-Dade's County Commissioner. This will be immediately followed by a Q& A reception with the cast. The purpose of the event is to unite fans of this groundbreaking show, while uplifting awareness around political candidates who understand racial violence and have a commitment to its eradication.

Henderson said, "Sybrina Fulton being the mother of Trayvon Martin, who was murdered at the hands of George Zimmerman, has a profound understanding of this issue a deep level of personal loss. We have to make sure she has a seat at the table. Our goal is to stop the American terrorism accepted by the American court system. ‘Citizen's arrest’ and untouchable police forces who are not held accountable for excessive force, police brutality, and murder of black and brown American citizens must stop."

Spinosaurus Versus the “African T-Rex”, Carcharodontosaurus: Who Would Win?

Bestselling novelist Max Hawthorne poses before a promotional painting hanging on his office wall.

Kronos Rising author Max Hawthorne in his study.

How did the “new”, aquatic Spinosaurus fare against one of the deadliest predators to ever walk the earth?

. . . if forced to fight, the world’s largest fisherman would use its lethal talons to make any attacker regret trying to make a meal of it.”

— Max Hawthorne

BUCKINGHAM, PA, US, June 29, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Spinosaurus, the legendary bipedal villain of “Jurassic Park 3”, a terrifying man-eater that snapped a T-rex’s neck with its bare claws, just got a makeover, and tongues are wagging. Recent fossils discoveries have revealed that the huge flesh-eater was first and foremost not bipedal. It mainly walked on all fours like a giant crocodile. And, despite its film debut, its diet did not include other dinosaurs for the most part, but rather something far less impressive: fish.

But Spinosaurus wasn’t alone. It shared its Cretaceous swamps, lakes and rivers with other huge predators, including the creature popularly known as the “African T-rex”: Carcharodontosaurus. This was a dinosaur as big and bad as the North American Tyrannosaurus, so how did the fish-eating Spinosaurus survive conflicts with its massive meat-eating rival?

Max Hawthorne, author of the bestselling Kronos Rising dinosaur fiction series, and an amateur paleontologist whose theory on plesiosaur swim mechanics may have solved how these four-flippered marine reptiles swam, recently put forth a theory addressing that exact question.

“The thing about Spinosaurus is that it was superbly adapted as a piscivore,” Hawthorne said during a recent interview. “It had long, narrow skull, like a gharial, filled with sharp, conical teeth that were designed to pierce and hold prey. At the end of its jaws was an alcove – a curved section that accommodated slippery fish. It also had foramina on its head – pressure sensors that detected movement in the surrounding water. It could probably snare fish in the dark, like crocodilians can.”

“We also know,” Hawthorne continued, “courtesy of the incredible work by paleontologists Ibrahim, et al, that it had a long, high tail, designed to propel it though the water, like an alligator or newt.” When asked about encounters with its other resident big-bad, Carcharodontosaurus, he added, “There was a price to pay for all those aquatic adaptations. Having a snout like a gharial was great for snapping up fish, but a slender skull isn’t made for combat with other colossi. You don’t pit a fencing foil against a broadsword. Similarly, the comparatively fragile jaws of Spinosaurus would not have fared well against the crushing, slashing jaws of a dinosaur killer like Carcharodontosaurus.”

When asked if “Spino” would have had encounters with the “African T-rex”, and if so, how it might have fared against such a nemesis, Hawthorne was quick to respond. “Confrontations were inevitable. Although Spinosaurus probably spent most of its time in the water, it undoubtedly came ashore to nest, to bask, or, if its lake or river dried up, to relocate (I believe the “sail” was a fat-storing hump like in today’s camels – a defense against dry seasons). Add to that, Carcharodontosaurus had to drink, and a Spino sitting at the river’s edge was a potential meal. We know conflicts happened because one fossilized Spinosaurus neural spine has a healed bite mark on it that matches the bite of Carcharodontosaurus.

But how could Spinosaurus survive such an attack? Hawthorne believes the dinosaur, despite being a primary quadruped, could still rear up on its hind legs like a bear, ground sloth, or giant anteater. In fact, he feels that the anteater is a perfect comparison. “Anteaters have a long, fragile snout, a large tail that helps balance them when they stand up, and they are often preyed upon by jaguars. But anteaters are not helpless,” Hawthorne pointed out. “They have the same weapons that Spinosaurus did: long, curved talons on the forelimbs. And this is how Spino would defend itself against meat-eaters like the 42-foot, 8+ ton Carcharodontosaurus.”

The author pictures Spinosaurus rearing up, two stories high, with its vulnerable head drawn back, and striking the face of any attacker as it came at it. “We know that theropods could not turn their ‘hands’ palm down, but they could move them inwardly in a wide clapping motion. For example, picture the flapping of a bird’s wings. This meant powerful slashes could be directed at anything attacking it. Anteaters have driven off jaguars this way, and you can bet Spinosaurus behaved similarly. Logically, it would’ve first tried escaping into the water, and bluffing if that failed. But, if forced to fight, the world’s largest fisherman would use its lethal talons to make any attacker regret trying to make a meal of it.”

StrongLink erweitert um native LTFS-unterstützung für ein cross-plattform-datemanagement

StrongLink software logo, now with optional LTFS support.

StrongLink now with native LTFS support

Inspired by Joel Osteen; African American TV Producer Yaw Acheampong Celebrates America and teaches about the history of slavery with "The Next 400" Talk Show

I could be having the worst day ever, but Joel Osteen always has something in his messages that helps me put things into a much broader and positive perspective.”

— Yaw Acheampong; TV Producer: The Next 400 Talk Show

MALIBU, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, June 26, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — While any group or country has its problems, many realize that America is still a great land that countless dream of coming to. And while some want to burn this country down, one immigrant from Africa wants to build it up–and he is doing just that.

About Yaw Acheampong

Yaw Acheampong describes himself as a serial entrepreneur of fifteen years. He is that–but so much more. Yaw was born and raised in Ghana West Africa, where–according to Oxfam, roughly 60% of the people live on less than $1.25 a day. Feeling in his spirit he was meant for a better existence, like so many others, Raw came to America dreaming of building a great life. He arrived in October 1996 and has succeeded in doing just that.

Reflections on America

Yaw states, “I've always been a true believer in America and the American people. I remember growing up back home, we used to joke around that America is only seven miles from heaven. Having lived here for the past twenty plus years, I share the sentiment even more.”
He adds, “And I know this country has the potential to be even better if we all learn to treat each other with respect and kindness and continue to demonstrate to the world what true diversity of America means.”

U.S. Veteran

Unsure what to do with himself once in the U.S., Yaw saw a U.S. Navy commercial on TV on night. He was fascinated with the speed of the magnificent aircraft carriers plowing through ocean water, jet planes soaring in the sky, and taken by the slogan, "Around the world, around the clock.” Yaw picked up the phone and called the number on the screen. Within ten minutes, a navy recruiter knocked on his door, and the rest was history. Before he could think about it, he had enlisted. He served in the U.S. Navy for six years. Raw states, “The six years I served turned out to be the most humbling experience of my life. While it was not the easiest to say the least, I can also look back and say I had a wonderful time and enjoyed the privilege of serving this great nation.”

Scholarly Education

Fresh out of the military and keeping the promise to his parents to get a university education, Raw attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in economics. He then attended the College of William & Mary, achieving a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in finance.

Entrepreneurship

Dreaming of being in business for himself, and longing for the thrill of starting his own business, Yaw deliberately built his network, surrounding himself with the right people, and after multiple failures, finally got one of his businesses operating at optimum speed. After traveling to some of his favorite destinations including Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Sydney, Australia, Yaw visited a friend in Houston, Texas; another city he came to love for its diversity and excitement. Knowing he was called to do something big, he determined to become a producer, making a new talk show that exemplified many of the positive things he loved about America, and that he longed for in humanity.

Joel Osteen: Greatest Mentor

When asked about his mentors, Yaw reveals, "My biggest mentor is Joel Osteen, pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston Texas." Yaw continues, "I'm a staunch fan and believer in his messages of hope. He has taught me a lot about having the right mind set in times of trials and tribulation. I guess I always underestimated how wonderfully made we are as human beings, and the power we possess to bring about change to positively impact people's lives. We may not always have the financial means to help people in need, but we can always be very kind with our words and actions to help instill love and hope in people. I could be having the worst day ever, but Joel Osteen always has something in his messages that helps me put things into a much broader and positive perspective."

A History of Slavery

Yaw states that in 2019, he saw a lot of African Americans visiting Africa in celebration of the "Year of Return” in Ghana, which was a celebration of 400 years since the first African slaves arrived on the shore of the United States. Yaw says that while some were excited about visiting the land of their ancestry, there was also a bitter sentiment, especially among younger African Americans, who described themselves as "just being black, but not African." It was then that he decided to start a conversation in the format of a TV talk show called, "The Next 400,” which he says will “help this younger generation of African Americans better understand who we all are as a people.”

The Next 400 Talk Show

Yaw’s new TV show plans to reflect the challenge of betterment he hopes to see in America. "With 'The Next 400' talk show, Yaw says, "We will have conversations about the different countries and the people of Africa, discussing how slavery and voluntary migration have impacted the American continent for the past 400 years. We will also have a close look at all the areas where African slaves were shipped to during the transatlantic slave trade, especially the United States, South America, the Caribbean, and Europe, and track the generational progress black people have made including; culture, commerce, sports, music, and cuisine over the course of those 400 years. Most importantly, we will make declarations in the form of our vision statements for the Next 400 years, striving for greater equality and peace."

César Vidal joins Zeptagram

We are so proud to work with César Vidal, the singer of the Swedish psych/60s/garage/indie-act Caesars aka Caesar's Palace (Jerk It Out anyone?)

To be on your own is a venture with many pitfalls. I liked the freedom but sometimes you miss the direct feedback of course”

— César Vidal

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN, June 25, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Why a solo album?
– I needed the total freedom I guess. Some extra spontaneity. The opportunity to give room to some aspects of my musical taste. For good or bad. And also because other group members were quite busy with other projects as well.

And giving room to all those aspects – what came out? How would you describe the record?
– I’m reluctant to describe my music in too much detail, I even find it difficult. It’s up to the listeners to make their own associations. In the end I don’t think I sound like anything but myself really. Then of course the 60’s have meant a lot, since I was a child, which is fairly obvious. But somehow the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s are present as well I think.

What was it like to not have anyone else to yell at in the studio?
– To be on your own is a venture with many pitfalls. I liked the freedom but sometimes you miss the direct feedback of course.

First record you bought and do you still have it?
– I remember picking up the single Popcorn by the group Hot Butter at an early age (my mum paid). Unfortunately it’s lost.

You’re on tour and in a new town with some spare time. What do you do – sleep, museum, record store, bar?
– Museum, record store and bar sounds great in that order. I would try to do all of them. I can sleep later. If I really HAD to choose I’d probably go for the bar.

Best guitar riff ever?
– Oh, there are so many great riffs. Paperback Writer by The Beatles is up there.

Best guitar player?
– I can’t really say THE best about anyone but an amazing guitar player from a band I love is Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane. Just listen to the track Embryonic Journey and you get the idea.

Pistols, Clash or Ramones?
– I pick The Ramones for their sentiment and melodies, still being Punk. On top of that they had the best singer. And one more thing, for keeping their 60’s haircuts the whole time.

You’re drunk at a karaoke-bar and suddenly see your future wife – what track do you get up to do?
– Hm, I just got married and for my wife I could sing Cupid by Sam Cooke.

Which is the best Julio Iglesias-cover you have sung?
– Haha, I only did one. No recording, just a karaoke performance of Hey back in 1995 or something. It was at a friend´s club. It still haunts me and some people still talk about it. Even people who weren’t there. It’s strange.

Dogs or cats?
– I’ve had them both and I like them both. I get more attached to dogs though. I was devastated when my dog died and I still think about it, ten years later.

New film, "Shirin Ebadi: Until We Are Free", to be featured at Venice International Film Festival

One of 28 feature length films selected for Venice Production Bridge Gap Financing Market

"Shirin Ebadi: Until We Are Free", is one of only 28 feature length films selected for the Venice International Film Festival's Gap Financing Market this year.”

— Dawn Gifford Engle

BARCELONA, CO, SPAIN, June 25, 2020 /EINPresswire.com/ — Director Dawn Gifford Engle's newest film, "Shirin Ebadi: Until We Are Free", is one of only 28 feature length films selected for the Venice International Film Festival's Gap Financing Market this year, which will be held on September 4th through September 6th as part of the overall Venice International Film Festival. The film tells the story of Shirn Ebadi's struggle for women's rights and human rights in Iran.

The first Muslim woman to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize, Shirin Ebadi has inspired millions around the globe through her work as a human rights lawyer defending women and children against a brutal regime in Iran. Now the film, “Until We Are Free”, tells her story of courage and defiance in the face of a government out to destroy her, her family, and her mission: to bring justice to the people and the country she loves. The Iranian government would end up taking everything from Shirin Ebadi — her marriage, her home, even her Nobel Prize medallion — but the one thing it could never steal was her spirit to fight for justice and a better future for the women of Iran.

"Shirin Ebadi: Until We Are Free" is the seventh film in the PeaceJam Foundation's award-winning "Nobel Legacy Film Series". Actress Laurel Harris provides the narration for the film.

This year's Venice Production Bridge Gap Financing Market will be the first project co-financing meeting to take place physically since the Covid-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of film and TV events around the world from early March. To qualify for selection, feature length film projects have to have at least 70% of financing in place.

The Director of the film, Dawn Gifford Engle, said, "We are absolutely thrilled that our new film has been selected for this incredible opportunity." Executive Producer Ivan Suvanjieff stated that, "We are really looking forward to working closely with the terrific team at Venice Production Bridge in September."
