Defying limits of Pandemic, youth filmmakers reach across language states and oceans to create cultural bonds, and share hopes for a brighter future thru film.

Incredible festival! Amazing films! Youth Diversity Film Festival was really great to be part of. We saw some wonderful independent films and learned lots from other filmmakers. Absolutely fantastic!”

— Evangelina Sarett, Filmmaker-Russia “Adventure in Parallel Universes”

LOS ANGELES, CA, US, January 29, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) announced today the closing programs of the 11th Annual Youth Diversity Film Festival (YDFF). In its mission to recognize and support the unique talents and voices of youth with the provision and promotion of this visual platform — traditionally brought to the community annually as a live event – the YDFF concludes its 2021 run with two events, “What’s Going On“ Social Justice Video and Panel Discussion, Saturday, January 30th, 1:00PM (PDT) and YDFF Closing Ceremony, Sunday, January 31st, 2:00PM PDT online on BHERC.TV.

The event scheduled for Saturday, January 30th, showcases the 20th anniversary remake of the All-Star video of Marvin Gaye’s agonizingly relevant 1971 hit song “What’s Going On.” This video produced by veteran filmmaker Alcee H Walker, President, Chasing My Dreams Film Group (CMDFG), spotlights youth in the remake. When Mr. Walker put out a casting call, young people from Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Philadelphia, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Rhode Island answered the call to participate in this moving and collaborative rendition of a song – made before they were born — still represents their sentiments of the issues of the times that they face today as the world explodes around them. After the screening of the video, both the producer and several of the youth cast will participate in a “Making of Panel” moderated by Sandra J. Evers-Manly, President and Founder of BHERC. The students will share their views on social justice, their hopes for the future and what message they hope to send with the video.

Chasing My Dreams Film Group (CMDFG) is a kid-based film production company that provides opportunities for kids from different communities in the film industry. As the leader of CMDFG, Alcee H. Walker is committed to stories that focus on social issues that are authentic and connect to the younger generation. CMDFG films are used as educational tools by holding screenings at schools and by providing lesson plans that align with the schools’ health and wellness curriculum. CMDFG strives to create stories that address social issues that impact our community the most. Tackling issues about families, incarceration, police brutality, violence, kids in school and bullying. The films CMDFG creates are raw and unfiltered and aim to make the audience feel uncomfortable so they can question their perspective and beliefs.

Sunday, January 31st at 2:00PM, the YDFF will hold the Closing Event Moderated by the President and Founder of BHERC Sandra J. Evers-Manly, this special event will spotlight several of the gifted and remarkable youth filmmakers selected from the US and abroad who will share their views and hopes for the future as well as how filmmaking can make a difference and impact the world around them.

The BHERC YDFF was pleased to host the 60 plus films selected for 2021 that were as diverse as the areas they hail from and the young filmmakers they represent including the US, and 14 countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Kenya, Russia, Estonia, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Bangladesh, Korea, Denmark, India, Hungary, and Iran. The filmmakers shared their perspectives with each other online through online social media, round tables, and panels. Discussing their approach to filmmaking, how they got started, who their mentors are and where they want to go in the future with their filmmaking. Supporting each other and sharing their journey. For many, they tackled heavy topics close to their hearts such as social justice, mental health, racial injustice, horror, suicide, and on the lighter side skateboarding, wanting a pet, rap battle, and comedy. The online audiences have been extremely affected as well. Below are a few comments from filmmakers:

• Inam Inam, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, India: “Charisma” – “We feel happy to see more creative films of talented filmmakers. This is the great platform for all growing generations.”

• Greta Kerkoff, – Mittleton, Colorado: “Leena and Claudia” – “It was wonderful to see so many other people my age who all share a passion for what they do. Everyone’s creativity and expertise has inspired me to move on to my next projects.”

I learn a lot about culture and what moves people on this small planet. Thank you very much and JESUS bless. In particular I send hugs to the Brazilians who are here too. I loved to know.”

Fundi: The Story Of Ella Baker

The African Diaspora International Film Festival will celebrate Black History Month virtually nationwide from Feb. 12 to the 15.

The selection of 16 fiction films and documentaries from 14 different countries offers a global perspective on significant historical moments in the life of people of African descent worldwide.”

— ADIFF

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED SATTES, January 29, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The African Diaspora International Film Festival will celebrate Black History Month virtually nationwide from Feb. 12 to the 15 with a selection of films about the multiple dimensions of Black History. The selection of 16 fiction films and documentaries from 14 different countries offers a global perspective on significant historical moments in the life of people of African descent worldwide.

ADIFF’s Black History Month Program will open on February 12 with the screening of THE SIT-IN: HARRY BELAFONTE HOSTS THE TONIGHT SHOW by Yoruba Richen, a documentary film that chronicles the seminal event and almost-forgotten moment in American history during which legendary entertainer and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte hosted the iconic “Tonight Show” in place of Johnny Carson for an entire week. A free ZOOM Q&A will be held with director Yoruba Richen on Friday, Feb. 12 at 7PM EST

Another highlight is the Women Leaders in the Civil Rights Movement Program featuring two revealing documentaries: THIS LITTLE LIGHT OF MINE: THE LEGACY OF FANNIE LOU HAMER by Robin Hamilton which follows one woman’s journey from sharecropper to grassroots organizer to beaten and jailed protester to political powerhouse – and along the way, she proves every voice matters. Also in the program is FUNDI : THE STORY OF ELLA BAKER by Joanne Grant, a fabulous documentary that reveals the instrumental role that Ella Baker, a friend and advisor to Martin Luther King, Jr., played in shaping the American civil rights movement.

Other films in the selection include:
THE FIRST RASTA by Helene Lee, a revealing historical documentary that explores the life of Leonard Percival Howell (1898 – 1981), the founder of the most popular mystical movement of the 20th century, Rastafarianism.

A DRY WHITE SEASON by Euzhan Palcy a historical drama set in Apartheid South Africa starring Donald Sutherland, Susan Sarandon and Marlon Brando. With this film, Euzhan Palcy became the first black female director produced by a major Hollywood studio (MGM).

GURUMBE: AFRO-ANDALUSIAN MEMORIES, a documentary that explores how Flamenco is synonymous with Spanish culture. Yet, since its inception, theorists have sidelined the fundamental contribution of Afro-Andalusians to this art form.

THE STORY OF LOVERS ROCK by Menelik Shabazz, a documentary film about the Lovers Rock Black Social Dance that puts into context the LOVERS ROCK segment in Steve McQueens’ Small Axe series.

SHAIHU UMAR by Adamu Halilu, a Nigerian classic epic drama from 1976 that explores the little discussed topic of the trans-African slave trade.

ADIFF attracts a wide cross-section of cinephiles and audiences of African American, Caribbean, African, Latino and European ethnic backgrounds who share a common interest for thought provoking, well crafted, intelligent and entertaining stories about the human experience of people of color, ADIFF is now a national and international event with festivals held in New York City, Chicago, Washington DC, and Paris, France.

Commenting on the line up of ADIFF Chicago 2019, film critic Kathleen Sachs of the Chicago Readers wrote: “The films in the 17th Annual African Diaspora International Film Festival – Chicago do what much media and even the public school system fail to do: educate. Through robust programming that gives meaning to the word "diverse," the selections in this year's festival illuminate the experiences of those living in the African diaspora around the world. The

MAFS Nicci Bridson near death experience attracts Hollywood Stars

Anna Kulinova with Nicci Bridson

From Hollywood to Australia

Hollywood Actor Anna Kulinova seeks solace with Australian survivor

SYDNEY, NEW SOUTH WALES, AUSTRALIA, January 29, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — “I had gone from military style boot camps on the circuit at 5.30am, running tens of kilometers a week, swimming, pumping weights to dropping a kettle because it felt so heavy. My immune system was shutting down on me. I had swelling of the face and ankles, I lost weight and muscle rapidly and weighed under 48 kilos “, explained Nicci Bridson, 35 of Adelaide Australia, who gave up her television debut in 2018 with the ‘Top Rated’ Australian Reality TV Show, ‘Married At First Sight’-MAFS Season 6. “I couldn’t commit to the hours of filming. I mean what would I say to the producer… hey sorry I need to sleep another 15 hours, you can't film me today”. Bridson became sicker every day, she may have looked ok with a face of full makeup and some tousled locks but every day was a struggle according to Bridson.

“I had a chronic cough pre explant, dry skin, hair loss, Chronic Fatigue was the worst issue combined with dehydration but most of all the numbness of my hands and fingers had doctors believing I had Multiple Sclerosis or MS for short. I had a brain scan every 6 months where a number of white lesions appeared. The Neurologist said simply put, my brain was shorting out the connection to my body, I felt numb”, explained Bridson.
In late 2019 Bridson was diagnosed with Breast Implant Illness. “I had seen a number of surgeons who quite frankly didn't know much about it. I told the first surgeon after seeing the article in the paper that I feel like I'm dying. He took one look at me with a face of makeup and said well you seem ok. It is a very rare chance that it is breast cancer. I had to cut out the newspaper article and take it in with me”, said Bridson.
In July 24, 2019 Allergan announced a global recall of Biocell textured implants after the FDA requested a recall. The recall comes after a rare type of cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma. (ALCL) has been linked to textured implants. Bridson had another seizure on New Year's day of 2020 while she was driving home. She was taken by ambulance to Adelaide hospital again unable to move her arms. She became so weak she couldn't work.
Doctors shortly afterwards agreed with Bridson to performing a double explant and to remove all tissue near the implants as recommended by the FDA. Within days her energy was returning, her breathing was no longer labored and she started to regain her motor control.
Still left with many brain lesions and fainting episodes Bridson began to see things happening to people she spoke to them. She saw pictures flashing in her head that started to manifest into premonitions. She believes it was a gift caused by her near death experience and her new spiritual awakening. She started talking to people and immediately started seeing snapshots about them, their past and their future. Talking to them they understood the meanings of what she was talking about and Bridson is now the confidante to many ‘A list’ Celebrities who have reached out to her via Zoom and other video links during these difficult times.
Bridson stated that she even predicted the recent Adelaide Hills bushfires months ago even describing on social media the description of the elderly man with ties to the property that would be deliberately lit. This week a man who allegedly lit a fire in the Adelaide Hills while a separate blaze raged uncontrolled about 10 kilometres away has appeared briefly in court. It will be alleged that the 61-year-old started a blaze on Piggott Range Road, at Clarendon in the Adelaide Hills.
Recently Hollywood Actor and Celebrity Model Anna Kulinova reached out to Bridson for a more personal understanding of her life and understanding of herself only to find Bridson had a very in-depth knowledge of her sick father which no one else knew about as well and so much of her personal life. The Bulgarian born blue eyed beauty Anna Kulinova is known for acting in ‘After The Outbreak’ (2017) ‘Valentine's Day’ (2010), ‘New Year's Eve’ (2011) and ‘Searching for Bobby D’ (2005). Millions have seen her on giant billboards in New York as the ‘Vogue Poster Girl’ and on the side of New York City buses. Kulinova is often snapped by paparazzi at events such as the Oscars with the likes of Paris Hilton, Bradley Cooper, Mel Gibson or Leonardo DiCaprio. We will see Kulinova soon in ‘Fuhgedd About It’ , building a criminal empire in pre-production where she plays Ashley and again as Natasha in the soon to be released ‘Family Feud’ a dark comedy.
When asked to tell us about her experience with Bridson she said , “I would love to talk about my reading with Nicci Bridson. I may say I have been trying all kinds of mediums and clairvoyants but she blew me away with her reading. She is one of the best out there. She was so accurate. She told me things from my personal life who nobody knew. Things about my Dads sickness and Garry Marshall who was my mentor… She is somebody I will highly recommend to all my friends”.
Kulinova went on to say, “I may she looks amazing, she should be a ‘Movie Star’ as well. I’m so grateful to meet such an amazing soul, she is beautiful inside and out and a very spiritual, pure soul ready to help you with your life”.

Youth from 14 countries defy Pandemic reaching across language, oceans and US states to share views, insights, issues and events that uplift and give them hope.

The amplification of black voices around the world through BHERC is a success that lives in my heart. As youth filmmakers, our creative drive to provoke change and instill hope is our greatest asset.”

— Damani Douglas, Youth Filmmaker, “Melanated: The Color Underneath"

LOS ANGELES, CA, US, January 28, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center (BHERC) recognizes and supports the unique talents and voices of youth with the provision and promotion of the platform of the 11th Annual Youth Diversity Film Festival (YDFF). Traditionally brought to the community annually as a live event, this year due to the pandemic the YDFF festival made its online debut on www.BHERC.TV. Saturday January 16th thru Thursday, January 31st, 2021.

YDFF is one of the longest running youth film festivals to focus on diversity, sharing short narrative, animation, and docu-short films from a varied group. A welcome and incredible outcome of this year’s YDFF– in addition to the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the young filmmakers’ stories — have been the cultural bonding of the young filmmakers through their online interaction. “Our young filmmakers are very astute and in tune with what is going on in the world today,” notes Sandra Evers-Manly, President. “YDFF gives them a platform to share their stories with an international audience. They have found that they have a cultural tie that binds them that they were not aware of before that will inform their storytelling from now on. That is a powerful opportunity for all of us!”

The young filmmakers shared their perspectives with each other through social networks, online round tables and panels. Witnessing what their counterparts in each other’s countries are going through and that it is a lot like the same issues of all young people. The YDFF created an understanding that they share a cultural bond. A sharing of the same pride and personal honor in the “telling” of their unique, unadulterated views and hopes for the future and the experience of sharing it with a supportive audience. Listed are a few of the filmmakers quotes about their cross cultural international online experience:

• Damani Douglas, New York, New York: “Melanated: The Color Underneath" – “The amplification of black voices around the world through BHERC is a success that lives in my heart. Though our differences are many, our commitment to advocating for social justice through film connects us all. As youth filmmakers, our creative drive to provoke change and instill hope is our greatest asset.”

• Inam Inam, Villupuram, Tamil Nadu, India: “Charisma” – “We feel happy to see more creative films of talented filmmakers. This is the great platform for all growing generations.”

• Luis Lopes, Brockton, Massachusetts: “Hope” – “This festival is a great chance to learn and to teach what you learned to your fellow filmmakers.”

• Evangelina Sarett, Novosibirsk, Russia, Russian Federation: “Adventure in parallel Universes” – “Incredible festival! Amazing films! Youth Diversity Film Festival was really great to be part of. We saw some wonderful independent films there and learned lots from other filmmakers. Absolutely fantastic, thanks!”

• Jordyn Rae, Orcutt, CA: “There's Food in the House” – “I am so glad I got to experience such greatly made films by even more amazing filmmakers! Getting to know the people who made these very powerful films and learning their stories behind the scenes was definitely an experience I won’t forget!”

• Beatriz Velloso, Vieira de Ouro Filmes, Sao Paolo Brazil: “My diary at the end of the world: Football Edition” – “I and everyone on the team, are very happy to participate in this wonderful festival. I have watched every movie and classrooms and I get tears in my eyes when I see people so passionate about art. That shows us the beautiful cultural diversity, and that we are all human. I learn a lot about culture and what moves people on this small planet. Thank you very much and JESUS bless. In particular I send hugs to the Brazilians who are here too.”

In addition to the films that are available 24/7 through January 31st, 2021 on www.BHERC.TV were panels with industry professionals that provided insight into three areas of expertise in the film, television, and stage professions. Sound and Editing, Animation and Costume Design. Each panel provided access to mentorship and inside, real time real life information and experience by some of the best professionals in their fields. “Our Youth are an important part of the founding and ongoing work of the BHERC,” states BHERC YDFF Director Billie Green. “This festival is presented annually to continue the BHERC mission to provide an outlet and opportunity for young filmmakers to share their stories about issues, challenges, and successes to a broad audience as well as access to professionals who will mentor and support them on their journey.”

In the past, the BHERC YDFF selected and screened 500 entries from the US. This year, YDFF increased its outreach for submissions utilizing Film Freeway receiving more than 1500 submissions from the US and multiple countries. The 60 plus films selected for 2021, are as diverse as the areas they hail from and the young filmmakers they represent including the US, and 14 countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Kenya, Russia, Estonia, Spain, Brazil, Australia, Bangladesh, Korea, Denmark, India, Hungary, and Iran.

Don't miss these last days of this festival of incredible films by youth from across the globe online thru Sunday, January 31st. Take the time to log in and learn, be inspired, moved, gain insight from the filmmakers and from the films. Sign-up today at www.BHERC.TV Admissions for the online festival are $25.00 Festival Pass, $10.00 Adult Day Pass and Students $5.00 Day Pass. All Panels are Free. Bobbi Jo Reed is a hero and a mother to the broken, forgotten, abandoned, and abused. One by one, Bobbi Jo reaches a hand down into the darkness and pulls her children into the light. With love, a hug, a safe place to live, and a program for recovery, Bobbi Jo has helped thousands of homeless addicts off the streets, rehabilitating lives and transforming a community.

When it couldn’t get any darker, Bobbi Jo turned her life around

This powerful documentary follows Bobbi Jo Reed into and out of her own personal hell, celebrates her recovery, and shows how she is using both of those experiences to serve the more than 7,000 individuals who now call her, “Mom.”

The report looks into a number of software and hardware solutions that have allowed teams to get back to production and could prove vital moving forward.

SEATTLE, WA, USA, January 28, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — On January 26th, localization and language services research agency Nimdzi Insights released a major report on the future of remote recording in the media localization industry. The research team at Nimdzi spoke with a number of industry professionals from Deluxe, Iyuno Media Group, SDI, Sound Map, and ZOO Digital as well as with representatives from the voice talent community to understand the challenges being faced in the shifting industry and what they think the road ahead will look like.

“In the last few months, new remote recording solutions have emerged and existing ones have been consolidated, changing the dubbing industry forever. Recording from home will not only ensure the safety of the voice talent community and the continuity of the dubbing business but will also allow the industry to evolve thanks to the new opportunities brought by this technology, ” reports Belén Agulló Garcia, Lead Media Researcher at Nimdzi Insights.

The onset of the pandemic and the beginning of global social distancing measures saw dubbing teams struggling to cope with their productions coming to a halt and their workflows being profoundly disrupted. Nimdzi’s report on Remote Recording analyzes the different levels of this disruption, the stakeholders affected, and the solutions they’ve come up with to ensure that voice talents, artistic directors, sound engineers, etc are able to collaborate as if they were still together in the studio. Ease of collaboration is crucial to ensuring quality recordings and minimizing mistakes along the way.

The problems facing media localization teams forced out of their studios range from the need for remote collaboration to the need for high quality audio recordings without the benefit of the necessary infrastructure. As such, Nimdzi’s report details a number of software and hardware solutions that have allowed these teams to get back to production and could prove vital moving forward.

Insight into the findings is available on Nimdzi’s website.
