Manly Short Film Showcase (AAFM SEMSFS) on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 4:00PM (PDT) online at www.BHERC.TV followed by a Q and A moderated by Sandra J. Evers-Manly, BHERC President and Founder. The festival has been attended by and entertained more than 6000 attendees from across the globe. This weekend is the last opportunity to view the on-demand industry panel and screenings “Black Filmmakers On Social Justice”, events and view the 140 curated films of the festival with stories from all genres. This closing weekend of the 2020 virtual month-long festival will also feature a virtual “Soul Food & Films” Closing Celebration Event Sunday, November 29, 2020 5:00PM (PDT).

BHERC is proud to bring you diverse voices, perspectives, statements, and stories on one of the most prominent topics of the day. Social Justice. This issue dominates the headlines of every city around the world. BHERC felt it important to spotlight some of the films and bring them to a wider audience. The films featured during the panel and screening are:
“Color Blind” – Shaun Mathis, A remorseful police officer struggles to cope with the fact that he mistakenly killed an unarmed teenager while trying to make amends with his wife and the teen's mother;
“The Dope Years: The Story of Latasha Harlins” – Allison A. Waite, Director, The story of Latasha Harlins as told by the women closest to her. A personal retelling of the life and death of Latasha Harlins, the forgotten spark igniting the Los Angeles uprising of 1992, popularly known as the LA riots;
“We Can’t Breathe” – Clarence Williams IV, Writer/Director, A young couple clashes in the wake of a racially charged murder committed by a police officer.

It Can Happen To You – Based on true events that happened at a Philadelphia Starbucks in April 2018 leading to the arrest of 2 black males;
Never Too Late – Victor experiments with time travel, with hopes of saving his son from his untimely demise.

In addition to the incredible brands, organizations, agencies, and nonprofits that won throughout the night, the ceremony also awarded two outstanding individuals. The first impact honoree went to celebrity investor and CEO of Vayner Media and Vayner Sports, Gary Vaynerchuk. Outside of being an extremely successful businessman, this year he also put efforts into fundraising. Vaynerchuk participated in the all-in challenge, a social media fundraiser providing food to those in need: children, elderly, and frontline heroes. For the challenge, Vaynerchuk took time out of his busy schedule to go live on TikTok for 12 hours, raising over two million dollars.

The second impact award went to social media influencer and comedic creator Adam Waheed. He has been involved in many philanthropic projects in 2020. He launched and raised over $30,000 for a school in Bali to help pay for new supplies and support students' escape from poverty through education. Additionally, he has been extremely involved in racial injustice protests as well as educating his audience on the importance of voting. He even took to the street throughout the covid pandemic and protests to hand out $10,000 worth of pizza to dedicated Black Lives Matter protestors.

Actor Arturo Castro served as host for this year's ceremony. He is best known for his portrayal of Jaimé Castro on the Comedy Central series "Broad City", and David Rodriguez on the Netflix series "Narcos". Castro had hosted his own show on Guatemala's national network called "Conexion", a year before moving to New York City, where he attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He currently stars in Comedy Central's "Alternatino with Arturo Castro", a sketch comedy show centering on life as a modern Latino man.

Shefik continues to be very active in the community. Earlier this year, he announced that his team recently won a challenge hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ( intended to empower participants to take action on the COVID-19 crisis. Shefik's team, including participants from seven countries (Algeria, Canada, India, Italy, Kenya, South Africa, United States), developed a project titled CoWell Solutions (, which was named a winner. The project is currently in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and will be fully launched in early 2021.

NAPLES, ITALY, November 27, 2020 / — Italian-American actors Luca Cerbone and Sofia Maggi are featured in the new, anti-Covid short film, It Is What It Is, released this week by The Sedge Group as part of a world-wide campaign against the deadly virus.

“There are thousands of television programs, news networks and websites that require new content daily. Why not take advantage of this need to fight Covid?” This was the idea behind It Is What It Is according to producer Michael Sedge

The five-minute film, starring Cerbone and Maggi, portrays a young couple discussing their participation in a Los Angeles party. They attended the event despite the known Covid risk. It is not until the end that viewers learn she has become a victim of the virus. The entire discussion, as well as their sharing a glass of wine, is only in the head of her grieving boyfriend. His final words, “And now you are dead.”

Illusion Islands starts pre production for their next feature film

Illusion Islands continues their growing partnership with Ayiyi Productions as they join forces again for another Hollywood movie.

LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, November 26, 2020 / — Illusion Islands and Ayiyi Productions worked together on, The Private Eye. The two production companies recently announced they will be partnering on a new movie project with plans to begin principal photography around the start of the new year.

The feature film is kept under wraps and as of now is untitled to the public. What we do know is the movie will be starring Elliot and Alex Kaginaris. The movie will be directed by Jack Cook and produced by Hope Ayiyi. The plot description is as follows: An Actor moves to Hollywood in search of fame and glory but instead finds pain. The Actor then turns his pain into fame and glory.

Director Jack Cook states, "I'm excited to announce the casting of this project. I've always enjoyed movies that use Cinema to create a social experiment with the audience without giving too much away. That is my goal with this untitled project".
